This is a serious piece of kit which does everything that you could ever require from an A/V amplifier. The sound filed definition is about as perfect as you are going to get without at least doubling your budget. Also it is worth considering over the 1070 as the only difference is a lower [slightly] outpur per channel and the ommision of a 6th speaker [not really needed unless you have a huge room]. It even has a very good quality tuner thrown in for good measures. Purchase this unit with a DVP-NS700V and an optical uplink and you will not be disappointed!!... one point to notes is that you will probably need to replace your speakers, a good qulity HQ unit like this is a waste of time unless you have the devices to let it sing like it should!!!!

With a Dolby Digital and DTS decoder built in, this amplifier provides everything the home cinema enthusiast could want. Ive connected by TV, SACD, DVD, video, satellite box up to it.. the list goes on.Combined with a set of Pascal speakers, this not only looks like a serious piece of kit but performs like one as well. You dont have to worry about geting the best sound performance either - if you wire up the devices as Sony suggests, the amplifier will do the rest. And yes, the quality rocks. Coaxial DVD input results in jitter free sound, so to test it, I popped in my Hannibal DVD (which is DTS encoded), sat back and turned up the volume. And the living room seats began to vibrate, just like in the cinema. (Although, thankfully, theres a "Night mode" setting that tones everything down if you want to get rid of the thuds.) Any down sides? Well, yes. The instructions could be better organised, although the diagramming is clear. The box is heavy - and big - but its a QS range box so its high quality kit. Also, if you hate spaghetti behind your television you wont appreciate the number of wires that plug into this box. But all this pales into incomparison when you consider the performance of the product, and the fact that its nature requires it to be big. Overall, its a great product.

Ive seen this little baby in operation and I can tell you it is the best thing since sliced bread. Its takes some getting used to because it does so much! I recommend it to anyone!
